Baby Room and Day Five

A bucket of Kilz stain blocking paint in one hand and brush in the other, I began the process of turning a bedroom upstairs into Little Baby Forrester's bedroom.

We inherited a very bright pink room that had been the nursury for the previous owner and we hadn't touched it during the year since we bought the house.

On Friday evening I laid down plastic to protect the carpet and began rolling on the first of four coats of white paint. I played music from Juanes, a Colombian musician, as I painted. I posted on Facebook that we were finally getting around to painting the room. There were a flurry of comments from happy family members and friends.

We are so excited to be creating this room for our son. We are preparing his space where he will feel safe and comfortable. It will be his place to relax and play. My mind couldn't help but wander as I envisioned him in his room.

And we're just now getting a glimpse into how parenthood can change your perspective on life.

For me, as I rolled paint up and down the wall, I reflected on what God must have felt while He created the heavens, earth, the seas, land, animals and vegetation; and just before culminating with mankind's creation. What went through God's mind as He was making our wonderful world - knowing it was for man's enjoyment and benefit? I imagine He was excited like I was when rolling on paint. I bet He thought of man enjoying the tastes of fruits, the feel of grass and the feel of a warm summer breeze as He created them.

We're still putting on the finishing touches to the paint job. Our son's bed and dresser are in boxes laying in the dining room. His booster seat, where he'll eat many meals, is in its box waiting to be opened.

Like God on day Five, we're just waiting to see our son interact with the home we've worked hard preparing for him.

Where is our letter?

One big thing you learn pretty quick going through an adoption process is that we need to have patience.  Sometimes more than others, but it looks like I haven’t learned my lesson yet. Just when I thought everything was moving really fast and smooth, I am pulling my hair out because we have not received anything back from immigration yet.
We need tons of patience now. It was a lot easier to wait before we saw the picture of our baby for the first time. Now it is really hard when we know he is just waiting for us. Please help us pray for all paperwork to be approved and sent back to us as soon as possible. There are only a few last steps in our journey before we can hold our baby in our arms. We cannot wait.

The Fun Has Begun

A lot of fun things are happening around the house. We are getting ready for Little Baby Forrester and as any first time parents we want for everything to be perfect before he comes home for ever. Both of us have something in common, we are planners. Every single thing needs a plan in our mind. We need to do some research and of course look for the best deal in town. We are not compulsive buyers and take a lot of time (sometimes too much) to make any purchase decision.

Last weekend we went out hunting for a crib. We learned pretty quick that we don't have a lot of time for procrastination or to wait for a sale. The order for the crib will take 10 to 12 weeks. We can't wait that long when we need to be in Colombia about 8 weeks from now. Thankfully the store had one last set of Claudia's dream crib at the warehouse and we got. It was probably the first time in our lives together when we visited the store twice, two days in the row before we purchased an item. Thank you to my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law we have a bedroom set for our little baby boy.

We will be painting the nursery this weekend. We're really excited about this also. The bedroom has a bright pink color perfect for a little girl that we inherited when we bought the house a year ago, but we can't wait to see how the room will look with our new baby blue color. I will post some pictures of the before and after. Now we need to get to work.
